If you looked at MyAnimeList top anime based on the ratings right now the top 3 best anime according to that website is as follows

1. Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
2. Your Name (Kimi no Na wa)
and 3. Steins;Gate

Steins;Gate was and still in one of the most influential visual novel and anime to came out this decade, yeah I said it. I mean what other anime series this decade has come closed to replicate it. The visual novel is one of the best of all time and spawned the universe that involves Occultic:Nine and Robotic;Notes breathe along in the same universe and this is huge as anime never saw this universe at this caliber. The closest thing I can think of is Gochiusa X Kiniro Mosaic but that due to the same publication which is Manga Time Kirara. The anime was being praised due to great storyline, likeable characters, and surprisingly dark theme on what would've been a dramatic series. In short this series was perfect knit and since people loved it so much the creator is making some sort of alternate timeline where...

[SPOILER ALERT FROM HERE AND OUT]

...Okabe gave up on saving Kurisu after so many attempts and went home aka Beta timeline.

Now after knowing this game will be made into an anime I have some high hopes and skepticism mainly being that it's gonna be a follow up to arguably the anime that have the perfect ending when Okabe reaching Steins;Gate. And with added new characters I'm wondering how'll this turned out. So is it any better than the original.

Well it's tough to say mainly because this anime have the exact same qualities as the first one only slightly worse in my opinion. Don't get me wrong this anime is great, a return of a great series that has been my contender for my anime of the year. But when it compared to the original yeah it's not better but it does answers some question on the ending of the original Steins;Gate and I'll talked about that in a minute. But let's talk about another aspects of this anime shall we?

Let's starts with one of the things that I can say it's being handled better than the original and that is the characters particularly Okabe. Now I'll be the the only one to say this but Okabe isn't my favorite character in the original Steins;Gate. Yeah he has a lot of depth and his relationship with Mayuri and Kurisu we're one of the best aspect of the series. But is it just me or he's kinda up in his own ass at the beginning, I mean sure he should be like that but I don't know why it kinda bothered me for some weird reason. But here Okabe has been reformed into one of the best MC ever. Even if most of the times he seems depressed, the man can make up his own minds for once and made some heroic moments.

Other characters do get their chance in the spotlights. Mayuri is as cute as ever but what I like about they do with her is that they gives Mayuri some dose of reality around her and do make some important choice although she's in the same place as she was back in the Steins Gate and on alpha timeline that's kinda weird. Suzu being a bad ass as usual and Daru... Well he's now my favorite character in the series as he maturing into a brave and compelling character as the series progress. I do like our new cast of characters like our villain (Spoiler) Leskinen, Kagari and Maho who are perfect combo for Daru imo.

Speaking of spoilers now we're going to talk on what's going on in this series and yeah after this I'll be talking about the spoilers to all of Steins Gate so if you haven't seen (in which case what's wrong with you) then go and watch it.

Okay now this series is like the answer to a lot of questions that people have with the ending of the first Steins Gate. Remember when Okarin got bitch-slapped by Mayuri and how it looked out of nowhere in the series, well that's because Mayuri and Suzu successfully travel back to the time when Suzu and Okarin goes back to save Kurisu and send a message to her past self to warn what's about to come if she doesn't save Okarin or in this case convince him to have another go to save Kurisu. What about the video that was sent by Okarin from the future? He actually planned it before hand after he successfully prevented the time machine being obliterated by the missile and he sent it by Suzu after it's all been done after his death and even saves both Suzu and Mayuri after lost in time back in 18.000 BC while being a bad ass.

As for the critique of the story and narrative of the series? Well this series actually grinds to a halt after Okarin back to the Alpha timeline and we're never knew why that happened to him in the first place and some plot hole regarding Kagari and how she was being held hostage for over ten years and then just let go like that. Come to think of it that reveal at the building where she was being held was kinda shocking but didn't make sense at least to me. Okay what else... oh yeah how the hell did Okarin didn't remember when he met Kagari, that guy still remember what she was singing but can't even remember how she looked after all the year? Things like this with a lot of plot holes and how useless the inclusion of Yuki aka Daru's wife and once was used as a clever ruse by the writer so they can prolong the mystery of the girl assassin with helmet (even tho it was predictable) really distracted me a bit.

But still this series was a blast to watch over the spring and summer and the best part is that there's one more game called Steins;Gate Elite and I might play that. But this is a great addition to the Steins;Gate lore and I can't wait for the OVA where i hope I can see Kurisu and Maho joined forces and who knows maybe introduce Okarin to Maho in the Steins;Gate timeline. I'll give this anime a strong 9/10 and definitely a recommendation for the fans and I also recommend you to watch Steins Gate because that's probably one of my favorite anime of all time. El Psy Congroo

that's it for me if you enjoy it give it a like and if you don't like it drop a comment criticize me so I can be better at my job. I'm just Some Girl With Her Opinion and Fall is here and I might bring a surprises along the way so stay tune for that. Anyway oyasumi!
