My Experience with Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid

Let me take you back into my life back in around 2017 where I was still bored with my life since entering high school. I was doing well but part of me doesn't have any pulse to do anything worthwhile, even with holidays and countless of festivals I've been to didn't even give me the pleasure of happiness that I seek since 2016 aka one of the best year of my life. Also this was around the time where I met new friends and most of them are anime fans and I really took an interest with the genre since one of my influence Chris Stuckmann gave "Your Name" the rating of A+, so while I've tried to watch some anime like Erased and My Hero Academia, it didn't interested me as much as some movies and western cartoons at the time. But then something happened and that's when in one faithful day me and my friends watch episode 8-10 of Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid while we wait for the time to come home.

At first when I saw this anime at twitter I thought it was cute enough and this one character Kanna Kamui is one of the best looking design in animation but I've never thought I'll be watching it anytime soon, but my friends are watching it so why not take a look at it. On episode 8 we got two parts stories, one involving cooking battles between Kobayashi and Tohru and the appearance of Elma.

The first part isn't that great, they could've been more great jokes here and there but as it is this bit is fine. But then when Elma came in I was intrigued with the concept of this anime, mainly dragons living in human worlds and being personified as a person. I know that this anime would be slice of life but I don't know why this got to me. The characters have great chemistry, the jokes are funny and even the writing of this anime is top notch with Kobayashi remained one of the best main character in anime ever. After I watched that episode I was surprised by how much I love that show and more importantly I felt really happy again and especially watching it with my friends. Probably one of the best thing I've done in high school and when I got home I'm watching the whole series while I wait until dawn for my fasting to ended that day.

This show might worked for me that day because of the simplicity. Before this I've watched a lot of heavy stuff, Adventure Time Island miniseries, Steven Universe and the Lars arc and how he died and got resurrected. some heavy movies like Pulp Fiction and Rush. At that point I became kinda bothered by how unfun and dower some of these stuff are. And so this slice of life anime with dragon as a maid and Kanna Kamui being all cute and lesbian is what I really need at that time. And after I've finished it I seek out other anime, mostly Slice of Life stuff like K-ON which is my favorite anime right now, sometimes I venture a bit into classic stuff like Spirited Away, Cowboy Bebop and Akira which was awesome. Flash-forward to now and I'm almost a year watching anime regularly is surreal to me. All thanks to an anime about dragon being personified living together with little fanservice.

So yea a bit of unusual blog this time because this month will be one year of me being an anime fans and that does ring specials to me and also to fill this month since my absence during test week so might as well do this.

Anyways I hope you guys like this and I might wanna do something with this month who knows, maybe KyoAni week? We'll see.

Top 10 Worst Hit Songs of 2025

Music is a medium that reflects culture the most instant. While both movies and TV shows are usually have a time frames for them to be created and it doesn't immediately impacted the culture as much. Music especially pop music are easier and faster to make. With the invention of the internet and artists have shorter time in between releasing the music they have made during that year and marketing it. I mean you can see that happening in real time with the Kendrick Lamar vs Drake rap beef where the culture was shaped by these two rappers going at it and ultimately Kendrick won that battle. If there's a tangible time capsule that you can consume everyday then I believe music is the gateway to what's going on within a period of time. I give up describing 2025 pop music. Whenever music historian will talked about 2025 pop music they might say how stale the chart is. But that characterization will missed the whole picture of 2025 as a whole. Strictly speaking, the listening habi...

Top 10 Worst Hit Songs of 2024

2024 will go down in history as one of the best year of all time...for pop music. Okay that's probably an exaggeration, but it is true that this year has been extraordinarily great for popular music. A lot of things that was bad about 2023; the abundance of lazy samplings, ragebait songs that supposed to make you mad, the absence of hip-hop, and the aura of unpleasantness that peppered the year 2023 all of them are somewhat gone. The fact that this year started out with a rap beef and it ended with a continuation of the biggest rap beef since the 90s. The comeback of pop music in a big way that's very snatched and girlynation while also having a great queer undercurrent, hip-hop having a great year and all that, and even country have its own redemption with some marginalized community hitting their strides. But, it's not all pretty and early 2024 before HISS came out things were continuing from 2023 by being rough and just nothing going on. Latin music especially having a v...

Top 10 Best Hit Songs of 2001

My fascination towards 2000s music is basically an understatement of the decade. I'd say that 2000s is one of the best decade for music even when some of the albums and songs are asinine garbage. The thing that interest me with this decade overall is how varied the music really is. One of my criticism of the 80s is that it can be a bit samey sounding by the end of the decade, but also the productions of the songs can be slapdashed and very busy. Meanwhile in the 2000s you can hear the creativity and innovation as technology in music production improved overtime. From the success of MP3 to the creation of online music stores and even music streaming and the advent of MySpace and FL Studios, you have it all really to make a perfect chaos. 2001 on the other hand...yeah it's not that memorable. When people think about 2001 they always point to the tragedy that was 9/11 while ignoring what happened to the rest of the year. While I'm not going to describe everything that happened...
