You know I actually have tried and make the ranking for this season from the usual start of the Spring season and I was talking about how boring the chart is and kinda suck the chart is right now. But as I tried to write that draft...popular music went batshit insane and we haven't got that new Taylor Swift album. Not only there were album bomb galore, not only that this chart is probably the most fresh that I have covered thus far, but also we got rap beef, Hozier comeback hit, a darkwave song almost hit #1, and two new girl bands that came out of nowhere. And the fact that we got rid of the discourse out of the way (well we still have the rap beef). This chart became the most interesting than it has ever been. Let me put things in perspective, On the day that I'm writing this a year ago, the most streamed song on the planet according to Spotify is Ella Baila Sola with 6.8 million streams.   I feel like the start of the year don't really  give people much idea of what will be the mood of the world in that certain year. But the start of the year 2024 we saw the tragedy of earthquake in Japan, Ecuador plunged into chaos, and Hasidic Jewish community built a tunnel inside the synagogue...yeah 2024 has been insane lately. Shame that the energy didn't manifested into the pop music which...I don't really know anymore. Now I don't want to say that the year is already bad for pop music because honestly these batch of songs are very good and very varied in terms of sounds and genres. But, the start of the year is usually the dead zone of new releases and it's definitely reflected on this top 20. Even with using songs that charted below 25 weeks, a lot of these entries are in their double digits weeks on the chart. Which means a lot of the songs has charted probably three months or more. This week is just a resetting after the Christmas songs all go...

I feel very exhausted this year. A lot of people are just want to be done with this year and for a good reason. This year felt like what happened in 2020 times ten. All the activism that happened for the past three years went down the drain with people feeling more and more isolated and cynical. Just scroll down social media and you can see how communities or just group of people are deterioating further into nihilism and hey I wouldn't blame them. We don't even get a good music from it either. Okay I was just exaggerating but 2023 felt so uneven. What I can observed from chart watching this year especially in Global 200 chart is that every country are in some sort of transition.
